WIP Nomination

Cruise 2014 182Hello once again, readers!!!

Guess what?!

I’ve been away on vacation since September 7th, and only just returned yesterday. I visited Cozumel and had the chance to swim through the underground caverns, Belize- where I took a tour around the Altun Ha Mayan Ruins, Mahogany Bay- where I snorkeled with lion fish and my friends, and Grand Cayman Island- where I stood in the water during the highest tide in sixty years with sting rays swimming into my hands.

In short, it was an amazing experience. I learned so much about these places and myself, and enjoyed the chance to wind down and really enjoy life.

But I digress.

While I was away, I was nominated by Sonya Loveday, my bestie and fellow author, to share the opening sentences from the first three chapters of my current WIP, Evernight (Night Watchmen, #3).

This novel is a continuation in the Night Watchmen Series … obviously.

Book two, Evernight, is currently with the editor getting prepped for its release on October 31st, 2014.

Before I share, I must say that none of these sentences are set in stone. I mean, after all, it is a WIP. Subject to change. And with being as picky and indecisive as I am, I’m sure there might be a change or two in the future.

Any who … here are the sentences:

Sentence 1

Sentence 2

Sentence 3

And scene.

Obviously, I can’t explain what you just read. Especially with book 2 not even out yet.

But it’s coming … muhahaha!

I’d like to thank Sonya for nominating me. This was fun!

Spring Fling Craft Fair and Bookfest News

Hello once again, Readers!! Oh how I’ve missed this blog. I swear I’m slacking and not because I have been abducted by aliens or even left to join the circus. Well…maybe you could call my house a circus at times…

This past weekend Sonya and I embarked on yet another craft fair, hoping to sell the last bit of our art to put into savings. It was a two-day event so we were pretty pumped about the possibilities. That is, until the weather decided to throw us for a loop. And when I say loop, what I really mean to say is tried to kill us.

Death by wind storm. Or by sunburn. Or both at the same time with a side of ex-convict stalking.

But I digress.

Day one was crazy windy and pretty much slow on the business side of things. We sold a few small items and left feeling a little blue, but still with a smidgen of hope for day two. The craziest part of the day was when a lady bought one of our wish necklaces (a vial filled with dandelion seeds) and asked if she could remove the seeds to put her dead boyfriends ashes inside of it to wear. I think Sonya almost fainted. I thought it was neat in a creepy-lovesick kind of way. But that’s just me…lol.

Day two we sold enough to earn back our tent fee and met a convict who said I have a dark side. He could tell this by looking at my art. 0_O

So apparently, I am somehow related to Darth Vader with a side of Voldemort and the Wicked Witch of the West. I’ll get you my pretty!

Any who, here are the photos from the fair:

Our lovely whimsical setup.

Our fairy-tasmic shadow boxes and liquor lamps. Can I getta oh snap!

Necklaces, doorknob hangers, and other pretty things.

One of the painting stands.

More paintings.

Yeah, so moral of the story…there is no moral. We had a ton of fun despite the moody weather and plan on going to another in Orlando. Hopefully. In the meantime, I am near halfway through my edits on From the Embers and waiting for word on when Embracing the Flames will be ready to go.

When I know, you will know. *wink*
Also, we have been given the okay by the lovely woman directing the Bookfest to share some exciting news about certain authors who will be signing alongside of the rest of us. So without further adieu, here is the announcement:
IBF BannerOh snap! Can’t wait to meet everyone going!
That being said, Echelon out ♥

Born in Flames Playlist

Hello once again, Readers!!!

Let’s start this baby off with a quote today.

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent” ― Victor Hugo

How do you like that….huh…huh? Powerful stuff right?

I know, which is why I am writing about music today or more specifically, about the playlist for my novel, Born in Flames.

I love music. It is the single most powerful art form that moves me. The next would be dance, and then paintings… I digress.

Every note, every key, it all pulls me to a place that is indescribably beautiful. A place where words are never enough. Only the sound of the music and the way it makes you feel on the inside. Exactly like what a good book does. And when I think of my story and try to sum it up, the emotional part of it I mean, there are a few songs that hit home. So this would have to be the playlist for Born in Flames.

  1. Active Child – Hanging On.
  2. Florence + The Machine – Drumming Song.
  3. Christina Perri – Arms.
  4. The Knife – Heartbeats.
  5. 30 Seconds to Mars – Alibi.
  6. The Xx – Shelter.
  7. Paramore – Adore.
  8. M83 – Another Wave From You.
  9. Mutemath – You Are Mine.
  10. Blondfire – Walking With Giants.
  11. Ellie Goulding – I Know You Care.
  12. Gary Jules – Mad World.

And scene.

Some you may now and some you may not. I love them all. Each song fits a specific scene and the lyrics all relate somehow to the characters and what they are going through. The fun part would be listening to it as you’re reading Born in Flames, and trying to figure out what song pertains to what.

Now to leave you with a question: If you’ve read Born in Flames, do you have any song suggestions to add to the playlist?

I don’t know how many of you are Game of Thrones and Dexter fans, but I sure am. Like mad crazy. When I saw this, I died laughing. Okay, well maybe I didn’t die, but you can imagine my delight!
