It’s new. It’s wow. And how! Not really … serials have been around about as far back as when authors had to pen their work by candle light with paper and a quill. Find out about this “new” wave of novella serials from some of the very authors who are writing and publishing them.

Panel 4B- Got Game?

(Kristie Cook, Rick Miles, Tawdra Kandle, Mandie Stevens)

Time to market your book. Oh, boy. Marketing is hard. Marketing is a lot of work. But sometimes thinking outside of the box when it comes to trying to get your book noticed is just what can make the difference.

WIP Wednesday

WIP Wed

Hello once again, readers!

How goes it?!

Life’s been a little crazy busy lately, but things are finally settling. I’ve taken about three weeks off as far as writing is concerned, but now that Everlasting and The Gramm Curse have been released and are doing well, I’ve finally found time to turn back to writing. I’ve been working on the second book in the Night Watchmen Series which is titled Evernight (Night Watchmen, #2). I’m so excited to be back in it and to have found my inspiration again.

Any who…

I haven’t done a WIP Wednesday in a loooooong time, but that’s because I haven’t had anything to share since I stopped writing for a while. So let’s get right to it!

This is a small (unedited) snippet from the opening chapter:

“I’ve done nothing to show you I’m a danger.” I’m shaking. I’m shaking and praying that she doesn’t notice, doesn’t see the anger and the rage and all the other awful things she makes me feel.

“You in your natural state is defiant. Rebellious. Wrong. That’s what makes you dangerous. That’s why I need to know how to keep you contained.” She turns to pace in front of me. “At least until we can separate what makes you different from us in your DNA . Harness it to help us better understand how we can unbind ourselves from our affinity partner without losing our power.”

“You’re sick. This is sick,” I say with disgust.

She spins so fast on her heel, I barely have time to register the slap she lands across my face. The entire side of my face stings all the way to my mouth, but I don’t flinch. I won’t give her that power.

“And you would be wise to bite your tongue unless I ask you a direct question,” Clara says harshly. “Obedience goes far with me.”

My gaze cuts to hers. “I guess Mack never got that memo,” I bite off, enjoying the slight look of shock that rattles the plastered smile on her face. I think she might say something, but an Elite walks in through the doorway dressed in the Night Watchmen uniform with a rifle held tight against his chest.

“We’ll continue this lovely discussion another time,” she says shortly. “But right now, you’re going to show me some results. No more games. No more simulations. Maybe some warm flesh and a beating heart will put some motivation into you.”

“Clara, I don’t know-”

“Enough!” she snaps. “No more excuses, Faye. You’re going to do what you did back there and learn to control it. Now.”

“No,” I say firmly. “I’ll kill him. I won’t be responsible for that.”

The corner of her lip twitches. Her eyes narrow. Without words, she turns, grabs the Elite’s gun from his hands, and then shoots him in the head. My screams pierce through the metal walls as blood spatters all over everything. All over me.

She turns back to me wearing blotches of red all over her white attire. “Now,” she says coolly, smoothing her hair back from her face, “you’ll either do as I say, or I’ll continue to kill for you. Blood will be on your hands either way, Faye Middleton. I suggest you don’t take it too far if you don’t want another murder on your hands.”

Vomit flies past my lips before I can stop it. The sound of her heels clicking, carrying her away from me, blend with the cold laughter leaving her lips. Three Elite’s enter the room and only two leave, carrying the body of the dead with them. When I catch my breath, I look up and I can barely stomach what’s before me.

It’s Jonathon…Katie’s father.

And scene!. Pretty intense. As you may have guessed, Clara isn’t a very nice person. Faye was betrayed when she left the safety of the church she recovered in, and now she has to find a way to escape Clara and her cruelty so she can be with her friends again. Thankfully, Jaxen isn’t too far off from rescuing her. ;)

Now, I need to get back to writing. I’m currently working on chapter 10, and I’m around 40k in. So almost halfway. Woot!

Wish me luck!
