The Last Enchantress By Scott & Judith Powell

Hello once again, readers! Today we have a special blog post from Scott & Judith Powell, authors of The Last Enchantress. Hang on to the edge of your seat as they take over my blog!

Oh snap!

Front Cover tle kindle

Being nineteen for over three hundred years bites, and being single in New York
with magical powers isn’t much better.

Eva is trying to live an everyday
life in New York. When this fails, she takes a seemingly unmagical job as a
translator for a wealthy American family in Spain. Eva cannot stay out of
trouble for long as she runs into a friendly but hungry vampire named Louis. Eva
feels drawn to this handsome, dangerous stranger who has problems of his

Louis’s life was just fine until Eva walked into his church. She
smells like heaven. Or is it hell, always smelling but never partaking? Surely
she is the devil coming to collect on his lost soul.

Available on Amazon.

Now for the blog take over. Take her away, Judith!

How We Write Together

Judith here the co-author of The Last Enchantress. A lot of people think because The Last Enchantress is told from two points of view, I wrote Eva’s side and Scott wrote Louis’.  That’s just not true.

In fact the first thing Scott worked on was Eva and most of the Louis chapters were outlined by me.  We worked together like this.  I write out the whole story (Scott calls me the architect.) Then Scott goes in and puts in all the details.  Scott says that I leave perfect places for him to write.  I don’t see them but he does.

One great example of how great we work together is the fight scene between Eva and Kate.  Eva sees Kate, all I wrote was that Eva broke Kate’s nose.  But when you read the whole scene you will see an entire fight scene in between.  Kate and Eva that is all Scott.  It’s like that through the entire book.

When Scott gets done I go over the book again to make sure that it all makes sense.  Then Scott goes over it one more time.  Layer upon layer, that how we work together.

Check out a special sneak peek of The Last Enchantress click here.

Scott Powell and Judith Powell are husband and wife writing team.  Their books include The Last Enchantressavailable on kindle and Rebel available this fall. Check them out on their blog.

Bookfest Recap and Embracing the Flames Playlist.

1010592_449790965119490_1586714432_nHello once again, readers!!! It’s Tuesday. You know what that means… We still have three more days until the weekend. *sarcastic happy dance* My son just started school yesterday so we are back into the swing of things. And by that I mean getting up at the crack of dawn and fighting the drop-off traffic at his school.

If I was a morning person, it wouldn’t be so bad. But I am not a morning person. Far from it actually. I don’t think my morning kicks in until lunchtime actually. Sad, I know.

I digress.

Soooo…my first ever author signing was a success! Even though I was extremely nervous, I managed to sell every copy I took of Born in Flames (which I think was 16 or 17 copies). There were quite a few readers who were browsing that actually recognized my novel or already had it on their ereader.

Can you believe that?!

I surely couldn’t. I thought I would be lucky if I sold one. Two of the purchases were from readers who had read it on their ereader and just wanted to have the physical as a keepsake.

To say that I was humbled is an understatement. It was amazing. All the wonderful authors I met and spoke with. All the wonderful readers who took time out of their day to come and support us all. It’s what makes being an Indie author rewarding. It’s a community. My next two won’t be until early next year, but I am so looking forward to them and to who I meet.

My side of the table.

But any who, now onto something you may or may not already know. I’ve had this post drafted for some time now, but haven’t got around to posting it so I guess now would be as good a time as any.

I love music. Like LOVE, love music. I have to have it playing when I write. It sets the mood and sometimes influences the actual scenes I write. When this happens, I like to keep track of the music that played such a heavy influence on my work. Also, it gives you the feel and tone of the writing. Below is the playlist I kept while writing Embracing the Flames. All of these songs were in my rotation and when I heard them, I just knew that they were apart of the story I was writing.

  1. M83 – You, Appearing.
  2. Florence + The Machine – Cosmic Love.
  3. Motorcycle – As The Rush Comes (Gabriel & Dresden Chill Out Mix).
  4. Tenth Avenue North – Times.
  5. AWOLNATION – Sail.
  6. Florence + The Machine – No Light, No Light.
  7. Ryan Stewart – Autumn
  8. Shock To Your System – Tegan and Sara.
  9. Hear me - Imagine Dragons
  10. Pyres of Varanasi - Thirty Seconds to Mars

Do you know any of these? Do you love them? Hate them? Some of the songs stuck out because of the lyrics. They sang true to what the character was going through or the direction of the plot.

Now to leave you with a question: What inspires you?
