You read that right! Embracing the Flames (Born in Flames Trilogy, #2) has been nominated for Book of the Year with Young Adult and Teen Readers blog.

(hang on while I freak out and do like fifty back-to-back cartwheels)

Okay, I’m back…and out of breath.

It’s always a wonderful feeling when I find out one of my novels has been nominated…even if it doesn’t win. Just to be in the company of the other nominated books is a win in itself. I’m humbled by the fact someone actually thought of me. That it actually touched them and left an impression. What more could an author ask for?

There are also a ton of other categories and awesome books up for nomination so please follow the link above and vote for your favorites. ♥

In other news, I will be taking over Raven Reviewz today for the 12 Days of Christmas Author Takeover. It’s an event on Facebook. I’ll be giving away some goodies so if you’re looking to have some fun today, join the event and participate in the activities!

So yeah, that’s all she wrote for today. Still trucking away at Everlasting. I have about seven more chapters to read through and then it will be beta time with a few trusted peeps.

From the Embers Second Round Edits

EditsHello once again, readers!!!

I just received my second round edits from my publisher this morning for From the Embers, the final installment in the Born in Flames Trilogy! I am excited to get started and at the same time, I can’t believe the end is approaching. It’s been a very long and enlightening road. I will miss these characters. There is one in particular though that won’t let up on me. He wants his own story and has been plotting himself a new journey in the back of my mind. We shall see what happens.

Any who, as a celebration of nearing the end of this epic journey, I want to share the prologue with you,

Prologue

“This just in,” a woman’s steely voice said. She paused, her eyes skimming over the monitor, taking in the words that were displayed on the screen before she had to deliver them to the thousands that tuned in.

Her eyes came to a hasty halt, and she stiffened in her seat. She looked off to the left, stealing a breath. “I can’t believe it,” she mumbled to herself, her lips quivering. Her heart began to beat like a panicked prisoner’s, locked inside a dark room.

She looked back up at the camera with a strained smile, her face paling as she tried her best to resume her composure. But the sound of the paper rattling in her hands was a dead giveaway.

Something was wrong.

She stared at the light in front of her that read “on air” and swallowed, regretting for the first time the duty that came with being a news anchor. Another weak smile pressed on her lips, her mind running blank.

Someone from behind the camera ushered her on with a small hand wave. She was fully aware of all the curious stares in the studio. Something she had never paid any mind to before.

Her co-anchor cleared his throat.

She shook her head, coming out of her momentary panic attack. “I don’t quite know how to put this.” Her voice was almost inaudible. “It seems there has been a phenomenon. One that cannot be explained.” She stopped, knowing that so many lives out there were blindly unaware of what was to come next. Knowing that she was about to forever change their lives.

“We have all been advised by the Department of Homeland Security to evacuate immediately to your nearest advised shelter. Our world is under attack. We have now declared war.”

The camera zoomed into her face for the deliverance of that last sentence that hung at the bottom of the screen like a noose. The room quieted. She paused once again, regretting the next words that were to leave her mouth, but knowing it was of great importance. The world depended on it.

“Our world is no longer ours as we know it.”

The screen went fuzzy, and the earth began to rumble.

And scene. Have you added it on Goodreads yet? If not, click here.

*Spoiler Alert*

So yeah, all hell has broken loose. If you’ve read the first two, then you know by now that Zordon is a Fate. He has the control in his hands and this is how he chooses to use it-by ripping apart both realms. Aurora has been sent back by Iliana, the sister fate, and will begin her journey to figuring out how the prophecy, and both her and Fenn’s purpose will come full circle to take Zordon down.

If she doesn’t run out of time first.

I am excited for my readers to read this one. There are quite a few shockers and an ending that will leave you in tears (I won’t say if they will be happy or sad tears). I’m getting all emotional now just thinking about my characters and being in their world again. It’s been awhile since I’ve thought about them since I have been nose deep in Everlasting. I think they will be pleased though.

Also, the cover is complete, we are just waiting on the reveal. Because I suck at waiting and keeping surprises, here is a small hint at what you can expect:Teaser

It’s just a little peek at the lettering. Basically, I can’t wait. If you’re in the mood to start the trilogy in preparation for the release of book three, book one and two are on sale for $2.99 right now on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Oh snap!

WIP Wednesday & Ebook Sale.

1017279_530831043672268_1525459525_nHello once again, readers!

What’s that? Did you say sale? SALE?! I LOVE sales!! And now, through December 31st, all 48fourteen novels (including Born in Flames and Embracing the Flames) are only $2.99.

Can I get a heck yeah?!

I just thought I would share. Because I’m nice like that.

So anyway, From the Embers is so close to being published! The cover is already in the works. It should be released sometime in December if all goes accordingly, maybe even earlier. Just waiting on the word from my publisher.

Oh snap!

I’m still working on Everlasting. I’m hoping to have it ready for editing by the end of the month, but we shall see. Juggling writing with my two-year-old and babysitting a nine-month-old every day doesn’t always allow me to write/edit whenever I please. You know, since they have to be tended to and all. lol. If they weren’t so cute…

Any who, it’s WIP Wednesday and since the release is so close, I figured I would share a snippet from From the Embers.

“We are physically bound, Astral. That much Zordon already knew from his father and I learned when Eve stabbed me in the back. And you knew, didn’t you? You knew it would come to this. That night in the Hall, I was told there was another way by both you and Iliana, but there isn’t, is there?”

I was so upset, I didn’t know if my words were still in my mind or spilling from my mouth.

“It would be so easy to end this. A simple slit of my wrists. A knife to the heart. This could all be over. Everyone could pick up the pieces, try to have a normal life. No more suffering, no more talk of war. Everyone would be safe from Zordon’s wrath.”

Astral stood up and sent his pillow flying through the paper window. Harsh light spilled into the room, dust flittering around us.

“I refuse to believe that is the only way. I refuse to believe you must die. This is exactly why I sent you to the other side. Why I prayed you wouldn’t return.”

The room grew silent.

“Even if I chose to take my own life, it has never been for you to decide,” I said softly.

And scene. It gets pretty intense in book three, Aurora must find a way to undo the bond between her and Zordon, because if she doesn’t, she will die right along with him. But that’s only a small portion of her problems. She also has to deal with the barrier being broken and allowing all sorts of evil into Mily’s realm, and Zordon tearing apart her new world with war. It’s crazy.

Now that I have moved on to a new series, I find myself missing these characters from time to time. I’m thinking once I get a couple of books into the Night Watchmen Series, that I will revisit the idea to write through Zane’s eyes. The way the Trilogy ends, totally offers up a new plot possibility for him. Time will tell though.
