A walk for the cure

Hello once again readers!!!

How have you been? Fantastic, I hope!

So I wanted to blog this week about something that is close to my heart-my very best friend Sonya. Her daughter Taylor, was diagnosed back in 2008 with type one diabetes. Now, the majority of people automatically assume that diabetes is all about managing the sugar intake. But its way more complicated than that. It’s a disease. Something as simple as a common cold causing the body’s white blood cells to attack the pancreas. Crazy right?

But it’s true, and it’s forever life-changing. Think about how many things you eat in a day, including soda. Everything has to be accounted for. Now think about going to the fair with your family. You see a corn dog stand and your mouth starts to water. You walk up to the stand and ask them how many carbs are in their world-famous corn dogs…but they don’t know.

But you have to know, because you have to configure how much insulin you need to help digest the carbs you are about to take in. This is what diabetics go through EVERYDAY! It’s not easy, but like every dark cloud, there is a silver lining. JDRF. They are fighting as we speak to find a cure. Things that make it easier for children to live a normal life. Things like a mechanical pancreas that can help reduce the daily shots that come with the disease.

So how can you help??? Donate to the cause! Click here ♥

Even a dollar could bring a child some relief from the round-the-clock stress of being a diabetic. The company I work for has decided to help the cause by raising money for the walk that is going down on March 3rd at UCF. Come join us! We’ve spent the last month raffling off a 50/50 pot,  gift cards, chocolates, and now we’re having a bake/art sale on Monday (2-27).

I’ve spent the weekend creating cupcakes and paintings to take in hopes that we will raise that last bit of money needed to reach our goal. I’m all frosted out lol. I really hope we have a good turn out tomorrow. Cookies, brownies, muffins, cupcakes…something has to appeal the masses. And art from Fae Tis Moor-an art business Sonya and I started up.

Here are some pieces that we’ve created. If you’re interested feel free to shoot me a message. Everything we sell up until March 3rd will be split with the JDRF fund! We also take special requests.

If you or someone you know has been touched by diabetes, please feel free to share with us! Or if you have any questions-just ask! Knowledge is power!

That being said…Echelon out ♥

I am the Progeny. I am their only hope.

  Hey Readers!!!

So what do you think? Amazing right? I’m still letting it soak in that this is really happening…I’m really on the road to being a published author! Here’s the official blurb for my novel:

Red mirrored scales race up my arms as the haze of pain blurs my vision. My bones crack, breaking to realign. I scream. It is then that the realization of my unavoidable fate sinks in; I am of a dying race. I am dragon.

Aurora Megalos, orphaned and teetering on the edge of adulthood, thought finding her past would curb the sting of being an outcast .Having no memories of the time before she awoke on her foster mother’s doorstep, she yearns for the emptiness inside her to be filled. With her fellow orphaned best friend, Fenn, by her side, she has nothing to lose and everything to gain. But something powerful stirred within her that she couldn’t explain. Something wanted out.

In the dark of night, a crazed Seer, dubbed Mr.Creepy, erases everything she’s ever known with an impending prophecy. She now faces two paths. Return to her true home to protect a dying race against a growing evil, or stay hidden in the safety of our realm with a shot at a true love. With a vengeful Arch Enemy stopping at nothing to see her dead, she’s running out of time; a decision must be made. What would you choose?

So now we wait for the final revisions. It will give me more time to continue on with the second novel which I’m about halfway through now. It’s amazing how a story can start out on one path, and over time as you grow with your character, take you on so many others. Sometimes it’s almost overwhelming! In a good way though, because that just means the story you’ve created is so in-depth, it’s alive. And that’s all I can hope for.

Hopefully soon I’ll be able to post sample chapters so you’ll be able to get a peek at the world I’ve created. I’m still working on my patience (as I’ve stated in my previous blog). It’s getting easier now that things are really starting to take off. I’ve got so many ideas to push this book…I can’t wait to begin that side of it. One step at a time…and I’d say this is a pretty big step. A beautiful cover and an author profile. *Ear to ear grinning*

Craziness I say. So check me out on Facebook from time to time if you haven’t liked my author profile. Or follow me on Twitter. Also, stop by my publisher’s website: http://www.48fourteen.com/. They have good reads from other amazing authors!

That being said, back to the grind…Echelon out ♥
